<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming an edible container by which the forming into a container shape can be carried out without using a mold and a response to a change in design of the container can simply be made to provide compact apparatus constitution as compared with the conventional apparatus by taking the disadvantages in the conventional apparatus for forming a food into consideration, and to provide the apparatus therefor. <P>SOLUTION: A food material F continuously formed into a cylindrical shape discharged from a gap between an outer nozzle 20 and an inner nozzle 73 in an annular form is cut for each prescribed length with a shutter means 3. The food material F is cut in an opened state of the cutting opening on the downstream side and the peripheral edge of the cutting opening on the upstream side is gathered and closed with shutter pieces 30.
