<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a field emission type cold cathode structure with heightened close contacting property of a wiring electrode and a fibrous electron emission member, capable of obtaining a good electron emitting property, and to provide a manufacturing method of the same and a plate-shaped image display device. <P>SOLUTION: The field emission type cold cathode structure 100 comprises a substrate 102, an insulation layer 123, a wiring electrode 121, an electron emission member layer 122, and a gate electrode 124. The wiring electrode 121 has a slanted face 121a slanting against a standard face 102a parallel with the extending direction of the substrate 102 in an area 123a surrounded by the insulation layer 123.
