PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lamp for a vehicle in which a starter circuit for a discharge lamp is built in a bulb socket; and at the time of the mounting and removal of the discharge lamp, power supply from an inverter circuit to the starter circuit can be surely cut off. SOLUTION: This headlamp 10 for the vehicle comprises a bulb socket 23 that is fitted to a reflector 20 of a lamp body 16 in a state of being connected to a discharge lamp bulb 11, a starter circuit 12 for a discharge lamp built in the bulb socket 23, and an inverter circuit for supplying power to the starter circuit 12. A harness coupler 42 which is integrally jointed with the bulb socket 23 and electrically connects the inverter circuit and the starter circuit 12 is provided on the inverter circuit side, and a stopper 44 which restricts the mounting and removal of the bulb socket 23 in a state that the harness coupler 42 is integrally jointed with the bulb socket 23 is provided at the lamp body 16.
