PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide map information which enables a user to recognize a transfer route up to a destination while catching the characteristics of the transfer route on a screen without moving along the transfer route actually. SOLUTION: When a starting place and a destination are assigned, a host device selects and displays a map for display within a range including the starting place and the destination and displays the transfer route 62 from the starting place to the destination according to the assigned starting place and destination. While moving a character 61 along the transfer route 62, the host device displays the image corresponding to the position of the character 61. Accordingly, the user of the map information system 1 can recognize the transfer route 62 while capturing the characteristics of the transfer route 62 on the screen without moving on actual roads along the transfer route 62.
