PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it easy to update map data. SOLUTION: In map data wherein a road network is represented by node data showing information related to nodes indicating points on roads and link data showing information related to links indicating roads between the points, link string data is provided where link data of links constituting a link string wherein chains of roads on the road network are represented as chains of links is arranged in the order of chains of links, and node data of respective nodes on the road network is provided independently of link string data, and a node identifier for discriminating each node is given to the node on the road network, and link data has information indicating the node identifier of one node of link ends determined in accordance with directions of the link string.
