Methods of treating a herpes virus infections are described. The methods involve administering to a subject in need thereof a compound of Formula I or Formula II below: (Formula I, II) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof in an amount effective to treat the infection. In such compounds, W is N or CR¿5<; X¿3? and X¿4? are each independently O or S; and Y is N, O, S or C.
