<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor driving device wherein wasteful power consumption is suppressed in standby state in which a motor is in a stop. <P>SOLUTION: The motor driving device includes a motor drive circuit 2 for supplying power to a brushless motor 1. The motor drive circuit is supplied with supply voltage from a voltage step-up circuit 4 through a control circuit 3. In the motor drive circuit, a brake circuit 5 outputs a brake signal to the control circuit 3 based on start and stop command signals inputted from a Start/Stop signal input 14. The motor driving device is so constituted that the following is implemented: clock CLK is counted with a counter circuit 7, and, when a predetermined count value is N, a signal S1 is outputted to the voltage step-up circuit 4 to stop stepping up voltage; an FG signal in proportion to the rotational speed of the motor 1 and a switching edge of the start and stop command signals are detected through first and second switching edge detection circuits 9 and 10A, and a reset circuit for the counter circuit 7 is reset through a logic gate 15.
