PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing apparatus capable of easily confirming a content of an input video image (recorded content) after switching of an input signal when the input signal is switched in the case that a title during full-time recording or a title recorded before are reproduced at the same time of full-time recording. SOLUTION: The recording and reproducing apparatus such as a DVD recorder and an HDD recorder is provided with a means that carries out switching processing of the input signal in response to an operation for switching the input signal in the case that the title during full-time recording or the title recorded before are reproduced at the same time of the full-time recording and displays the input video image after the input signal switching processing for only a prescribed time together with the reproduced video image.
