PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a skin care preparation which inhibits the photocatalytic activity of zinc silicate-coated zinc oxide, does not give a creaking sense and a rough sense when used, and gives an excellent sense of use, and to provide a method for inhibiting the photocatalytic activity of the skin care preparation for external use the zinc silicate-coated zinc oxide. SOLUTION: This skin care preparation for external use having inhibited photocatalytic activity comprises the zinc silicate-coated zinc oxide and a water-insoluble saturated non-volatile oil or non-volatile silicone oil. The method for inhibiting the photocatalytic activity comprises compounding the skin care preparation for external use containing the zinc silicate-coated zinc oxide with the water-insoluble saturated non-volatile oil or non-volatile silicone oil.
