<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image feeder, a recorder and a recording system in which the state can be reset quickly upon occurrence of a communication error by performing transmission/reception between the image feeder and the recorder by request and response using a command and predicting time-out up to response accurately in the recorder when data is transmitted from the image feeder, and to provide its controlling method and program. <P>SOLUTION: After a communication procedure is established by an application loaded to a DSC and a PD printer, a request is issued from the DSC to the PD printer (S1), a time required for data transfer incident to that request is predicted (S4), the time elapsing before receiving a response from the PD printer in response to that request is estimated based on the predicted time (S5), and if no response is received from the PD printer within the estimated elapsing time (S9), that request is invalidated (S10). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
