<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image scanner in electronic component packaging equipment for reading the image of an electronic component without modifying the moving route of a transfer head and shortening a tact time of packaging operation, and to provide an image reading method. <P>SOLUTION: The image scanner arranges in series a plurality of unit lens array structures 9a, 9b and 9c constituted to arrange in one row the prescribed number of lens groups allowing an imaging unit for component recognition, for recognizing the electronic component held on the transfer head to correspond to an image taken-in width W of a line sensor 13 at regular pitches, in a direction of parallel arrangement of a parts feeder to connect each unit lens array structure with a light transmission part. In reading the image, imaging light from the unit lens array structure imaging the image of the upward moving electronic component from among each unit lens array structure is selectively transmitted to the line sensor 13 through the light transmission part 12. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
