<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information terminal being connected easily with a local area network, e.g. a wireless LAN, using an access point other than well known access points, and to provide a communication method. <P>SOLUTION: If connection with a wireless LAN is impossible when connection is made with an access point using a wireless LAN, a user can know a closest access point easily using access point information in order to acquire the information of a closest access point using a public network.
