<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system capable of constructing at a low cost an authentication system for performing user authentication to a terminal connected to a high order communication network through a master station from a slave station, while securing sufficient security. <P>SOLUTION: When a terminal is connected to a slave station 2, for example, through a wireless LAN, an IP address is assigned to the terminal. The terminal communicates with a master station 1 using the assigned IP address and receives authentication. If authentication is granted according to the arrangement, the terminal can connect with a high order communication network L1. Assignment of an IP address to each terminal is performed using a DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) server.
