PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type display device which extracts characters and pictures superimposed and written on a display screen as electronic information without being influenced by outside light conditions. SOLUTION: In this projection type display device, when extracting information written by a user, (1) the information is extracted based on the relative value of RGB value of each pixel of the image written, or when the device is placed, (2) color information is acquired from the predetermined written image which is acquired by a calibration means and stored, and the written information is extracted based on the relative value of RGB value of each pixel of the image written and the color information, or (3) color information and the photographed image of a plain writing surface are acquired from the predetermined written image which is acquired by a calibration means and stored, and the information written is extracted based on the relative value of RGB value of each pixel of the image written, the color information and the photographed image of a plain writing surface.
