PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To write data fast to an arbitrary position in a display storage device wherein data are managed by word unit. SOLUTION: Font data of characters or data of a figure are written to the display storage device, stored with lighting/non-lighting state of dots constituting a display screen by word unit, at a write position corresponding to the size of a font or the size of figure, address, and bit position of the figure set in parameter setting registers. There are performed processing of shifting the font data or data of the figure according to the bit position set in a working register, processing of masking data read out of the display storage device according to the set address and bit position, and processing of generating write data by ORing the shifted data and masked data.
