PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting fluid/chip separator facilitating the disposal of chips from which a cutting fluid is separated and eliminated by centrifugal separation. SOLUTION: A rotary separating cylinder 12 provided with a downward opening 48, an upward opening 46, a tapered inner peripheral surface 50 and a cover body 56, and a receiving plate 14 are held in a relatively nonrotatable manner to a rotary shaft 28, and a plurality of scrapers 80 are held in a relatively rotatable manner to the rotary shaft 28. The chips with the cutting fluid thrown into the rotary separating cylinder 12 are received by the receiving plate 14, flown by centrifugal force and impact force caused by rotation, and received by the tapered inner peripheral surface 50. With the rotation of the rotary separating cylinder 12, the cutting fluid flows upward by the inclination of the tapered inner peripheral surface 50 and centrifugal force and flows out of an opening 60, and the chips held to the tapered inner peripheral surface 50 rotate the scrapers 80. When the rotation of an electric motor 18 is stopped by a brake to stop the rotary separating cylinder 12, the chips fall by gravity and are received in a chip storage truck 66, and the scrapers 80 are rotated by inertia to scrape and eliminate the chips.
