Substantially plane developments of sections 1 of the outer skin of a boat are produced from glass-fibre laminate and after curing are shaped and joined together by a strip 2 of glass-fibre laminate which is embedded flush with the surface of the sections. An inner covering layer 5 of glass-fibre laminate may then be provided. A reinforcement 4 and/or a supporting core (3 in Fig. 4, not shown) may be incorporated.
