Illuminating device (10) comprises a housing (14) fixed to a delimiting wall (12) of a wet area, an illuminating arrangement (30) held by the housing, and a liquid-tight transparent cover (40) made from a transparent casting composition which is liquid in the processing state and hard in its final state. The illuminating arrangement is embedded in the casting composition. An independent claim is also included for a process for the production of the illuminating device.
