When an operation inputting part (1) designates images to be compared, an imaging information extracting part (5) extracts, from the image files of those images stored in an image memory (4), imaging information, such as a CCD size of the image pickup device having captured those images, the number of CCD pixels, the distance to the subject, the focal distance of the image pickup lens and so on. Based on the imaging information and display information, such as resolution and the like, of displays (8a,8b) received from a display setting part (2), a resizing part (6) automatically scales up or down at least one of the images for comparison such that the display sizes of the same subject included in the images to be compared become approximately equal to each other. A display part (7) causes the displays (8a,8b) to display the images as resized.
