<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust the 3'-5' exonuclease activity of a heat-resistant DNA polymerase. <P>SOLUTION: The method for changing the property of the protein comprises introducing a mutation into the amino acid sequences of one or both of portions near to two domains located on the periphery of a groove having a substrate-binding site and/or active center of the groove of the protein having a catalytic activity.
