<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which has stable cleaning performance from an initial period and a process cartridge. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with an image carrier 5, an electrostatic charging means 14a for electrostatically charging the image carrier 5, a latent image forming means 6 for forming a latent image on the image carrier 5, a developing means 10 for developing the latent image on the image carrier 5 by sticking toner to the latent image, a transfer means 3 for transferring the toner image on the image carrier 5 to a recording member, a cleaning means 15 for cleaning the toner remaining on the image carrier 5 by a cleaning blade 15a, a solid lubricant 17b, and a brush-like roller 17a and is provided with a lubricant coating application means 17 for applying the solid lubricant 17b to the surface of the image carrier 5 by slidingly rubbing and scraping the solid lubricant by means of the brush-like roller 17a. The toner used in the developing means 10 has mean circularity of ≥0.94 and when a detecting means disposed at the main part of the image forming apparatus 1 detects that the image carrier 5 is a brand new product, the means operates the lubricant coating application means 17. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
