PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin-coated metal plate material which has excellent formability and hardly causes wax to accumulate on a die. SOLUTION: The resin-coated metal plate material is provided with a resin layer 2 and a wax layer 3 in this order on at least one surface of a metal base plate 1, wherein the resin-coated metal plate material has the resin layer 2 made of a resin containing wax A of 0.1 - 10 mass% and the wax layer 3 consisting of the wax A of 1 - 50 mass% and wax B (the balance) and has excellent formability. In the production method for the resin-coated metal plate material, the resin layer 2 containing the wax A is applied on the metal base plate 1 and is baked, and thereupon, the wax B is applied, then the resin-coated metal plate material is coil-wound, the temperature of the metal base plate 1 is properly controlled during the time from the start of application/baking to the coil-winding.
