PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pattern forming method which is capable of optimizing a display pattern. SOLUTION: A pixel which is darkest then among a fundamental pixel group in a prescribed fundamental frame is obtained as a lighting pixel, and the obtained lighting pixel is lit, and it is discriminated as to whether the lighting process has been performed a prescribed number of times with respect to the prescribed fundamental frame, and processing is returned to the process of obtaining the darkest pixel in the case that it is decided that the lighting process has not been performed the prescribed number of times. When it is decided that the lighting process has been performed by a prescribed number of times, a pattern of lighting pixels obtained with respect to the prescribed fundamental frame is determined as a temporary binary display pattern; and it is discriminated whether a temporary binary display pattern obtained with respect to each prescribed fundamental frame meets a preliminarily determined condition; and the next fundamental frame is taken as a prescribed fundamental frame, to return to the process of obtaining the darkest pixel, when it is decided that it does not meet the preliminarily determined condition.
