PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide toner which enjoys less toner consumption, can achieve a long lifetime and has superior developing performance in any environment. SOLUTION: Toner particles of the toner having a circle-equivalent diameter of 3-400μm have an average circularity of 0.935 to <0.970 and an average surface roughness of 5.0 to <35.0 nm and contains a polyester resin or a hybrid resin comprising a vinyl polymer unit and a polyester unit. In a molecular weight distribution of a THF-soluble component of the toner by GPC, a content of a component M1 whose molecular weight is <10,000 is 40-70 mass%, a content of a component M2 whose molecular weight is 10,000-50,000 is 25-50 mass%, a content of a component M3 whose molecular weight is >50,000 is 2-25 mass%, and a content of a component whose molecular weight is≥100,000 is <10 mass%, and when the content of the component whose molecular weight is <10,000 is represented by M1, the content of the component whose molecular weight is 10,000-50,000 by M2, and the content of the component whose molecular weight is >50,000 by M3, the expression: M1≥M2>M3 is satisfied.
