PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device which allows various conditions to be easily optimized and suppresses a moving phenomenon especially to realize a high quality of color images in gradation display. SOLUTION: An image display device 1, which has an image frame divided into blocks having a prescribed size and displays a plurality of tones per block throughout the plurality of image frames on the basis of lighting patterns, is so configured that a light pattern for each block is set correspondingly to each color per image frame. Thus various conditions are easily optimized, and coincidence of moving directions of respective colors is prevented to suppress a moving phenomenon especially, and a high quality of color images in gradation display is realized.
