PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader which effectively prevents the buckling of a flat cable with a simple constitution and prevents the reduction of read precision. SOLUTION: In the image reader which has a flat cable 13 provided in a frame body 2 being a housing cover, a film member 16 is provided in a part 13a near a flat cable connector 15, which is one end side of the flat cable 13 to be inserted to the flat cable connector 15 provided in a read unit 6. The read unit 6 is moved back and forth along a subscanning direction, and thus buckling of the flat cable at the time of scanning a document is effectively prevented. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
