PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lock nut capable of improving the fastening force of a fastening nut and the lock nut. SOLUTION: This lock nut 1 for preventing the loosening of the fastening nut 7 fastened to a bolt 6, comprises a nut 2 having a screw hole 4 inside and a groove 30 on a peripheral edge of the screw hole 4 of a bearing surface 3 at one side, and a plurality of projections 5 formed on the groove 30 of the nut 2 and made out of a material same as that of the nut 2. The projections 5 respectively have an outer face at a side opposite to the screw hole, directed to the center direction of the nut 2 from a boundary line of the bearing surface 3 of the nut 2 and the groove 30, and an inner face 32 at a screw hole 4 side, as the extension of an inner face of the screw hole 4 of the nut 2. A depth of the groove 30 is determined so that the plurality of projections 5 are not fitted between the bearing surface 8 at the nut 2 side of the fastening nut 7 and the bearing surface 3 of the nut 2, even when the plurality of projections 5 are collapsed in fastening the lock nut 1 to the bolt 6.
