PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems that the load in the initial stage of the collision is low and the energy loss is large because a known bumper device is started to collapse from a terminal portion of a bumper beam against the collision from an oblique direction of an automobile. SOLUTION: A bumper stay (3) comprises a front fitting wall part (7), a rear fitting wall part (8), a pair of ribs (9 and 10) to couple both wall parts, and a pair of fitting pieces (11 and 12). A terminal portion of a bumper beam (2) is inserted between the fitting pieces (11 and 12), and welded. The inner rib (9) has a curved portion, and the impact energy is absorbed while the inner rib (9) is mainly deformed during the collision from the oblique direction. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
