PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of properly discriminating the kind of a recording medium without inputting the kind of the recording medium, and performing calibration in accordance with a density area corresponding to the kind of each recording medium. SOLUTION: In the image forming device 100, when a new film package is mounted on a film placement means 12, a film carrying means 13 carries a film F. An exposure means 14 records a wedge pattern image on the film F through the use of a laser exposure value stored in a wedge pattern storage means 161. An optical density measuring means 17 measures the wedge pattern image and determines a film kind, based on an optical density measurement result. An LUT generating means 18 generates an LUT for correcting predetermined relation between an input image signal and the laser exposure value, in response to the density area of the discriminated film kind.
