The invention relates to a dispensing apparatus, typically in the form of a pack containing medication held in compartments provided in the pack, said medication having been selectively placed therein by an authorised person, typically in relation to a prescription for a particular patient. The compartments, with the medication therein, are sealed by a sealing layer and a retention means is attached to the body of the apparatus to retain the sealing means in position. Access is gained to the medication by breaking through the sealing means at a location of the required compartment in which the medication to be consumed is located.
