<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pointing device capable of considerably reducing loads upon the eye by pointing operation. <P>SOLUTION: A sensing encoder 132c mounted on a jog dial 132 and the like detects the rotation direction, the amount of rotation and the like of a dial 132a, and supplies a controller 111 with the detection result as operation information. When a pointer moving means 111a receives the operation information, it determines the position of a pointer P on the basis of the operation information, and sends a movement instruction to a display unit 120. At the same time, the pointer moving means 111a reads the value of data indicated by the pointer after movement from a hard disk 112, and supplies a vibration control means 111b with this value.
