PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for scheduling digital television broadcasting programs. SOLUTION: In the scheduling method, if a user sets programmed recording or a reminder function on a segment basis, the programmed recording or reminder function is performed when the broadcast time of at least one selected segment is reached. The scheduling apparatus includes: an input stream management unit which receives a broadcast stream, decodes and synchronizes audio and video data and purges segment metadata; and a schedule management unit 70 which manages the schedule of a programmed recording or reminder function or the like in response to a user's command. The user can record a desired program by using a timer on a segment unit without a help from an external server and moreover can exactly view the desired program on a segment unit through the reminder function.
