PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire having improved on-ice/snow performance from the initial stage of usage and improved wear resistance. SOLUTION: Main grooves 1 extending to a tire peripheral direction EE' and subsidiary grooves 2 extending to a tire cross direction FF' crossing the main grooves 1 are provided in a tread surface T to form blocks 3. A plurality of sipes 4 extending to the tire cross direction are provided in the blocks 3 to section the blocks 3 into a plurality of small blocks 5. The single-side edges in the tire cross direction FF' of the small blocks 5 are dropped one stage down from a block tread surface toward the inside of the tire. The edges 5a of the small blocks 5, dropped one stage down, are alternately arranged in such a manner as to be zigzag in the tire peripheral direction EE' at both sides in the tire cross direction FF' of the plurality of small blocks 5.
