PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an infrared image device provided on an aircraft for searching a victim on sea wherein a slant range can be set to be not more than the maximum distance allowing display of a target, without being influenced by wave, capable of rescanning the same part and recording a scan image at the time of discovery of the victim, and quickly and effectively discovering the victim. SOLUTION: The device has an infrared imaging part 2 capable of receiving infrared and changing an infrared visual axis, an electronic control part 4 for converting an electric signal into an image signal, a display part 6 for reproducing the image signal, a visual axis control part 8 for outputting a visual axis signal for controlling the visual axis of the infrared imaging part 2 based on the image signal, a target detecting level and the size of an input target, a calculating part 13 for calculating a visual axis limit of the infrared imaging part 2 based on the visual axis signal so that distance between the infrared imaging part 2 and an object may not exceed the maximum limit distance allowing visual recognition of the target, and a drive control part 9 for outputting a drive signal for operating the visual axis based on the visual axis signal from the visual axis control part 8 and the visual axis limit from the calculating part 13 to the infrared imaging part 2.
