PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical instrument which can easily and surely perform a taxis (for example, a vertebra compression fracture taxis) for the bone (for example, the crushed vertebra), and can prevent deformation and breakage from occurring. SOLUTION: The surgical instrument 1 is used for the taxis (for example, the vertebra compression fracture taxis), and has an outer cylinder 2 and an inner rod 3. When the outer diameter of a grip part 31 for the inner rod is expressed by a, and the outer diameter of the outer cylinder 2 by b, the ratio a/b of a and b is set to 5 or less. When the length of the grip part 31 for the inner rod is expressed by L1, and the length of the outer cylinder 2 to L2, the ratio L1/L2 of L1 and L2 is set to 1 or less.
