<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a physiologically active substance derived from a natural product, especially a physiologically active substance derived from a marine product. <P>SOLUTION: This physiologically active substance for inhibiting cell proliferation is a fat-soluble substance having about 660 molecular weight from an extract of internal organs of abalone, especially that isolated from the extract of internal organs of abalone as a raw material by isolation and purification by two-dimensional thin layer chromatography. A use thereof is provided. The new physiologically active substance derived from the extract of internal organs of abalone has inhibitory activity against cell proliferation, multinucleating activity and/or apoptosis induction activity, is useful for treating various diseases and pathologies caused by abnormal cell proliferation and is an effective tool for analyzing the functions of cells. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
