PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of effectively reducing an adverse effect on an image due to moire without degrading the image quality. SOLUTION: A digital color copying machine 10 is provided with a uniform density region processing section 1 having a uniform density region extract section 1a and an image data conversion section 1b. The uniform density region extract section 1a extracts a uniform density region with a uniform density in an area gradation image region included in an input image. The image data conversion section 1b generates new image data to express the density as to the uniform density region extracted by the uniform density region extract section 1a and replaces a part corresponding to the uniform density region in the input image data with the new image data.
