PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce operation load when performing forward/reverse shifting operation by a shift lever, in a shift operating device for a walking type working machine integrally provided with a cam mechanism following an oscillating operation of the shift lever at a base end part of the shift lever, to slide and shift a forward/reverse shifting shifter shaft via a cam follower engaged to an inclined cam groove formed in the cam mechanism. SOLUTION: Inclined anglesθ2 andθ3 on both end sides of the inclined cam groove 25a are constituted to be increased in relation to a basic inclined angleθ1 of the inclined cam groove 25a with an oscillating axis X of the cam groove 25 as a reference.
