A colloid mill with a bottom mounted, double rotor (4,5) has a jacketed outer containment wall (2) through which coolant is circulated, and a hyperbolic inner draught baffle tube (3) allowing rising particles to sink back towards the rotors. The baffle tube may also be double skinned and circulated with coolant.
