本发明的课题是在于提供一种明亮,广视野角,且可取得高品质的显示,应答速度佳之垂直配向模式的液晶显示装置。亦即,本发明之液晶显示装置,系具备:在一面侧具有电极的一对基板10,25,及在上述一对基板间介在上述电极而夹持的液晶层50,且具备平面配列复数个点区域D1~D3而成的显示区域者,其特征为:上述液晶层50包含初期配向状态呈垂直配向的液晶,画素电极31具有:在1个点区域内复数个岛状部31a~31c,及互相电性连接上述邻接的岛状部31a~31c之连结部31d,31e。
