An automatic mode transfer method in a handsfree-embedded car audio system is provided to minimize the convenience of a driver by automatically transferring a mode between an audio mode and a handsfree mode according to a voice signal outputted from a mobile phone. An audio microcomputer(110) judges whether a DTMF tone signal is inputted from a mobile phone(220). In case that the DTMF tone signal is inputted, the audio microcomputer(110) judges whether the present mode is an audio mode. If the present mode is the audio mode, the audio microcomputer(110) transfers the present mode to a handsfree mode. The audio microcomputer(110) judges whether a mode transfer key is inputted. If the mode transfer key is not inputted, the audio microcomputer judges whether a no-sound duration time count value exceeds a reference time value. If the no-sound duration time count value exceeds the reference time value, the audio microcomputer(110) transfers the present mode to the audio mode automatically.
