<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniform photographing conditions for every authentication within an operation system of no burden for a user at low cost although identity is not guaranteed in conventional technology. <P>SOLUTION: The authentication apparatus is provided with a guide means for a pattern or formation to make the user imagine a portion to place or to make closer a finger, a contact means such as a key switch at the portion to place a tip of the finger in the guide means or an optical opening in a portion to place a part to pick up its image for authentication, a light source for radiating near infrared rays in the part to pick up the image, and an image pickup means for photographing an image formed from the near infrared rays transmitted through the part to pick up the image via the opening. Besides, the apparatus is provided with a starting means for starting the authentication when a contact is connected by the contact means, and a shielding means for shielding external light which is infiltrated into the image pickup means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
