摘要 <p>An exhaust driven turbocharger for an IC engine, e.g. Otto or diesel engine, has an improved gas flow management system which boots low speed performance and reduces the so called turbo hole effect. The management system operates inside a map comprising the relationship between the pressure ratio and the nominal gas flow. The pressure ratio being the ratio of pressure before and after the turbocharger, and the nominal flow ratio being the ratio of the gas flow before the turbocharger to the nominal engine speed multiplied by the engine volume. The management system enables the engine to operate with a pressure ratio of one at maximum speed and with a nominal flow ratio of more than 0.35. The invention applies to engines with preferred capacity of 990 to 1800 cc and a speed of 5000 to 5700 rpm.</p>
