A motor is provided for displacing the piston. A control switch (53) operates the motor such that the piston takes in the desired position which is defined by the control signal. The control switch feeds the control signal with the position of the edge of the material web (09). A detector which is displaceably coupled to the piston supplies the control signal. The detector comprises a photocell. An independent claim is also included for the method of adjusting the turning bar.
