A device for distributing a liquid between two layers of photographic sheet material comprises a pair of members mounted in juxtaposed relation and having portions 56, 58, Fig. 2, defining a pressure generating gap, one member being supported from the other member by a resilient element 54 which resiliently urges the members together via load transfer means 72 but [is designed to] permits the one member to pivot relative to the other member to an inoperative position in which the gap is increased. In one form, Fig.3, the resilient member 154 is fixed at its ends in apertures 180 formed in leg portions 176, 178 of one spreader member 152, the other spreader member 150 having a tab portion 170 and load transfer elements 172 for supporting member 150 from the resilient member. In the liquid distributing position shown the resilient member is curved to urge the spreader members together, whilst in moving the members to the inoperative position the resilient element acts as a hinge or pivot. In further embodiments more than one tab portion may be provided and Fig. 7 (not shown), the load transfer element may be punched out of the body of the element 150 or a separate load-transfer element in contact with the resilient member and member 150 may be provided, the contact between the load transfer element being by tabs and indentations, Figs. 8 and 9 (not shown) or by pin and slot Fig. 10 (not shown). In a still further embodiment, Fig. 11 (not shown), the hinged portion (404) has a portion (408) rolled back upon itself to form a passageway for the resilient element, the diameter of the passageway being larger than the diameter of the resilient element to allow the element to assume a curved configuration within the passageway. The spreader device is disposed within a camera back 24, Fig.2, by springs to permit its easy removal. |
