A slider operated lock has a simplified design with a coupling lever (18) linking the slider (14, 3) and the latch drive (22) to hold the latch in one of three settings; fully locked, fully released and a trip setting, with the latch in an intermediate setting. The coupling lever has a control peg (20) moving in a profiled slot (23) in the lock housing. The latch (10) is braced in the locking position by an integral spring.
