There is disclosed an audio coding apparatus which has a wideband encoder (13) and noise canceller (12). The encoder (13) includes a high-frequency audio coder (131) and low-frequency audio coder (130). The low-frequency audio coder (130) includes a low-frequency noise canceller (203). When the high-frequency audio coder (131) is disabled, the noise canceller (12) is disabled, and allows a digital audio signal to pass through it and outputs that signal to the encoder (13). When the high-frequency audio coder (131) is enabled, the low-frequency noise canceller (203) is disabled, and allows a digital audio signal to pass through it. <IMAGE>
