A light-emitting external key unit in a mobile phone is provided to install an LED or an EL lamp for an external key in a mobile phone so that a user can obtain a visual effect user without the necessity of opening the folder or slider of the mobile phone. A light-emitting external key unit in a mobile phone(10) consists of an external key(1), a light-emitting circuit(3), and a MIDI chip(4). A light-emitting element(2) is embedded in the external key(1). The light-emitting circuit(3) drives the light-emitting element(2). The MIDI chip(4) controls the light-emitting circuit(3) so that the light-emitting element(2) can emit light to a bell sound in a specific pattern. The external key is installed at the external of the mobile phone(10). The light-emitting circuit(3) and the MIDI chip(4) are installed in the inside of the mobile phone(10).
