To provide an apparatus and a method for solution treatment of stainless steel, wherein temperature of cooling water is always uniformly maintained regardless of temperature change of external air, heat capacity of an object to be heated and moving speed of the object so as to accomplish a prescribed uniform heat treatment effect. In a solution treatment apparatus comprising a heating part for heating stainless steel(70), and a rapid cooling system for rapidly cooling the stainless steel heated in the heating part, the apparatus for solution treatment of stainless steel is characterized in that the rapid cooling system comprises a cooling chamber(30) in which an inner chamber(31) is installed such that stainless steel passes through the inner chamber, and cooling water(10) is filled in a space between the cooling chamber and the inner chamber; a heat exchange tank(20) in which a heat exchange coil(21) is installed to cool cooling water circulated from the cooling chamber; and a freezer(80) for supplying refrigerant into the heat exchange coil so that refrigerant is circulated through the heat exchange coil, wherein the rapid cooling system further comprises a temperature sensor(40) for sensing temperature of cooling water in the cooling chamber, and a control part(50) for determining on/off of the freezer according to sensed temperature of the cooling chamber.
