A blood-oxygenating device comprises a plastics bag the sides of which are welded so as to form an oxygenating tube 6, defoaming chamber 7, and outlet chamber 12, a metallic cylinder 2 having an inlet 1 for introducing blood into tube 6, a cover 3 having an inlet 4 for supplying oxygen to tube 6, a perforated membrane 5 located between cylinder 2 and cover 3, a sponge 8 of polyamide fibre coated with antifoam to defoam oxygenated blood in chamber 7, and vents 9 and outlet tube 13 in chamber 12, the top of tube 13 being positioned higher than the lower edge of partition 11. The plastics bag may be provided with a passage 14 for suspending on a rod. |
